Wisconsin Becomes 33rd Employment First State!
Employment First AB625 Bill Signed by Governor Walker
Yesterday 3/28/18 was a historical day at our state Capitol as Wisconsin officially became the 33rd Employment First state!  Wisconsin APSE board members, Molly Gilgenbach, Jenny Felty, and Shannon Webb joined other enthusiastic disability advocates for the bill signing ceremony with Governor Walker.
After the Governor signed the bill, he and Representative Edming autographed a Medford High School student’s boots that he proudly wears to his job at Weathershield.  Through a grassroots effort, Medford students first presented the concepts of Employment First to Representative Edming who then became committed to seeing Wisconsin embrace Employment First.

This accomplishment has been years in the making.  Wisconsin APSE thanks all of you who have engaged self-advocates, families, community members, service providers, schools, businesses, government officials, and legislators to fully understand the importance of integrated employment for people with disabilities.  Your efforts have made this milestone possible!
Sincerely,
The Wisconsin APSE Board
